A little softer than expected. I would like to have a little more product description - hair type, softness/ firmness, water retention.

Definitely soft, and as the description says, thirsty. Feels lovely and quality to hold. I like using this to experiment with varied and random stokes to make texture. The picture shows the overall length of the bristle section to be quite long and I think I might prefer it a tad shorter, for more overall control HOWEVER it might also be a matter of practicing to get the most out of the dagger shape.
